She is 100% Irish so I do not know if that gave her an extra advantage in the recipe creation but I am sure glad she makes it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-75732608427622489132009-03-18T13:50:00.000-04:002009-03-18T13:50:00.000-04:00Kudos to you for making all those breads but what ...Kudos to you for making all those breads but what a great payoff - tasting such a variety of baked goods! I love Irish breads, particularly the humble brown bread, and I was fortunate to have received from a friend and co-worker her family's recipe for soda bread. I will have to try your top 3 finishers!Tangled Noodlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17543997083087131116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-68677348642144911402009-03-18T12:56:00.000-04:002009-03-18T12:56:00.000-04:00I love Irish soda bread, but do confess a preferen...I love Irish soda bread, but do confess a preference for the sweeter version. But this year, I tried a recipe that was published in the Food section of the Boston Globe...and it got rave reviews from my coworkers! The link is: http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/food/articles/2009/03/11/soda_bread_with_golden_raisins/

I'd be interested to know what your judges think of this one as well, should you want to try yet another one (even now that it's after St. Patrick's Day :-) ). I was drawn to it because of the comments by the writers saying the canola oil makes for a moister crumb, which it did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-42962645022767932542009-03-18T09:24:00.000-04:002009-03-18T09:24:00.000-04:00Great post...we gave it a shout out on our blog wi...Great post...we gave it a shout out on our blog with an OM NOM Nomination.Pepperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02579362211575811545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-26806076786633890932009-03-17T13:53:00.000-04:002009-03-17T13:53:00.000-04:00Too fun! (even the crackers) My mom's last name is Hopkins and her family brought these recipes with them to Hawaii. So we would have Soda bread with Hawaiian Stew and Poi with Corn Beef and Cabbage...food the universal language! Good job!

Eirinn Go Brach! & AlohaCoconut Girl Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04692258536957390282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-41499364732487352512009-03-17T12:55:00.000-04:002009-03-17T12:55:00.000-04:00What a great idea to have an irish soda bread tast...What a great idea to have an irish soda bread tasting! My husband just made some of the more traditional Irish soda bread with King Arthur's Irish wholemeal flour. They have a recipe on the back of the bag. It was really flavorful (especially with the Irish butter), and tasted sort of like a savory, soda-y scone.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03717965652424854862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8864549976791017872.post-63431649401766198232009-03-16T21:59:00.000-04:002009-03-16T21:59:00.000-04:00What a fun post!
