Very Bad Food on Good Friday

(bad in the sense that it was extremely unhealthy)

Can you believe I've never been to Red Lobster? My friend Erin said I should go just to try the complimentary cheese biscuits. And what better occasion than Good Friday?

We headed over to our local Red Lobster in Lawrenceville, NJ and the cheese biscuits were every bit as good as Erin promised - warm, buttery, delish! Kris and I were fighting over the last one when our friendly waiter Joe asked whether he could bring us more (No way! Not if I'm planning to fit into my tightest pair of pants next weekend!)

We ordered our entrees from the lunch menu - Kris had the Seafood-Stuffed Flounder with mashed potatoes ($8.50) and I chose the Sailor's Platter - broiled haddock, shrimp scampi, and fried shrimp with wild rice pilaf ($9.75). They skimped a bit on the stuffing in Kris' flounder and the shrimp on my platter were pathetically small, but at least the seafood tasted fresh and was cooked nicely. And yes, I dipped everything on my plate into the garlic scampi butter!

After lunch we headed to Barnes & Noble, where a slice of Neapolitan cheesecake (from the Cheesecake Factory) beckoned alluringly to us from the Starbucks' dessert case. We couldn't resist.

For dinner, a clams casino pizza from JoJo's tavern with my homemade butternut squash risotto. As Kris would say "We're not fat for nothing!"

Wanna make those yummy Red Lobster cheese biscuits at home?
Here's a copycat recipe.

Happy Easter!

(Note to my mother-in-law: We didn't eat any meat that day, I swear! Hold on...does bacon count as meat?!)

Wow you guys ate some of my favorite food. I remember going to red lobster when I was in high school. It used to be considered such a treat. Those cheese biscuits are devine. I am going to have to do a blog on making them. And I adore the cheese cake factory. Well, I had krispy kremes, and they were hot, so there!!!

I do love those cheese biscuits, and am glad that you did your sinful eating before Easter (and therefore were absolved of that sin on Easter)! ;)

The only thing I ever liked at Red Lobster were their biscuits. Sure, maybe a lobster or some shrimp. Whenever I had a fish dish, it just didn't really taste quite right. I guess it all depends on who and where it's prepared.
